What the service is and is not

The platform arranges appointments. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it does not replace communication with your doctor.

In an emergency, call EKAB (the ambulance service) on 166, or call 112. Do not use the platform for emergencies.

Patient account

To book an appointment you need an account with a confirmed mobile number. You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you provide and for access to your phone.

You can book an appointment for your child or for another adult. In that case you declare that you have their consent, and you remain the contact person for the appointment.

Bookings, confirmation and cancellation

• Depending on the practice’s settings, the appointment is confirmed automatically or stays pending until the practice approves it. A request that is not approved within the period set by the practice expires and the time becomes available again.
• You can cancel using the link in the SMS or from your account, up to the deadline set by the practice. After the deadline, cancellation is by phone with the practice.
• The practice may propose a new time, cancel or move an appointment. You will be informed by SMS and can reply using the link in the message.

The appointment time is reserved for you, but final management of the schedule rests with the practice.

Messages

The service sends SMS messages about your appointments: confirmation code, confirmation, reminder, change and cancellation. We do not send advertising messages. Charges by your provider for receiving SMS do not apply in Greece.

If the practice sends you a message in the app, you receive an SMS letting you know there is a new message. This SMS does not contain the text of the message. You can turn it off from the conversation.

Conversations with the practice

You can exchange messages and files in the app with a doctor you have an appointment with. This is not an emergency channel: in an emergency, call 166 (EKAB) or 112. The doctor is not obliged to reply and there is no deadline for a reply.

The conversation is read by your doctor and by the practice staff to whom the doctor has given that permission. No other doctor on the platform can see it. Every time a file in the conversation is opened, this is logged.

The conversation and its files form part of your medical record at that practice, with your doctor as the data controller, and are kept for as long as the law on medical records requires. You can request deletion from the conversation; the request is carried out by the practice.

Doctors’ obligations

Doctors and practices provide their details, which giatros.app checks before the profile becomes visible. They declare that they lawfully practise medicine, and they are responsible for the accuracy of their profile and availability, for keeping their patients’ medical records and for maintaining medical confidentiality.

Cost

Using the platform is free for patients. Doctors are charged for using the platform and the messages under their agreement with the operator. The fee for the medical visit is set and collected by the practice.

Liability and availability

We make every effort to keep the service available and to deliver messages on time, but we cannot guarantee this absolutely: the delivery of an SMS also depends on the provider’s network. We are not liable for medical acts, for the conduct or availability of a practice, or for damage caused by force majeure or by an interruption of third-party services.

Using the platform for false bookings, automated mass use or attempts to access other people’s data is prohibited. In such cases the account is deactivated.

Changes to the terms

The terms and the privacy policy may be updated. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page, and material changes are announced within the service.
